Text to Speech

Turn any text into natural-sounding speech using your browser voices. Choose voice, rate, pitch and volume — runs entirely on-device.

What is the Text to Speech?

The Text to Speech tool reads any text aloud using the voices your browser exposes through the Web Speech API. Pick a voice, adjust rate, pitch and volume, and listen — no server call, no character limit, no quota.

The available voices depend on your operating system: macOS and Windows ship with many; the list may differ on Linux and mobile.

  1. 1Paste or type the text you want to hear.
  2. 2Choose a voice from the dropdown (the list depends on your browser and OS).
  3. 3Adjust rate, pitch and volume with the sliders.
  4. 4Click "Play" to listen and "Stop" to halt playback.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download the audio?

Not directly — the browser API plays audio but does not expose a downloadable file.

Why does the voice list look short?

Some browsers populate the voice list only after the first Play — click Play once and check again.
