PDF to Word

Convert PDF text into an editable Word (.docx) document. Runs entirely in your browser — files never leave your device.

100% in your browser — files never uploaded
Note: only text is extracted. Complex layouts, tables and images are approximated — expect a clean but simpler document than the original PDF. For scanned PDFs, use our Image to Text tool first.

What is the PDF to Word?

The PDF to Word tool extracts the text of a PDF and packages it into an editable .docx you can open in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice. Text is extracted page by page with line-position-aware ordering so paragraphs read naturally.

The output prioritises text fidelity over pixel-perfect layout: tables, columns and images are approximated. For scanned PDFs, run OCR first with the Image to Text tool.

How to use the PDF to Word

  1. 1Drop your PDF file onto the upload area.
  2. 2Click "Convert to Word" — extraction progress is shown per page.
  3. 3Download the .docx and open it in your editor of choice.

Key features

  • Page-by-page text extraction using pdf.js
  • Line-position-aware paragraph ordering
  • Automatic page breaks matching the original pages
  • Compatible with Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and Pages

Important notes

  • Conversion works best on text-based PDFs. Scanned or image-only PDFs have no selectable text, so little or nothing will be extracted without OCR.
  • Complex layouts (multi-column pages, tables, custom fonts) may not carry over perfectly and can need light cleanup in Word.
  • Conversion runs in your browser — your file is not uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
