Add Watermark to PDF

Stamp a text watermark across every page of a PDF. Choose colour, opacity, size and position. Works entirely in your browser.

What is the Add Watermark to PDF?

The Add Watermark to PDF tool stamps a custom text watermark across every page of your document. Use it to mark a file as "Confidential", "Draft", "Sample" or with your company name so recipients know its status at a glance.

Watermarks are a soft form of copyright protection. They discourage casual redistribution and clearly signal ownership, without needing complex DRM. This tool lets you set the text, font size, opacity, angle and colour of the watermark so it fits your brand or workflow.

The stamping happens locally in your browser. No PDFs are uploaded to a third-party server, which is important when watermarking sensitive contracts, quotations or design proofs.

How to use the Add Watermark to PDF

  1. 1Upload the PDF you want to watermark.
  2. 2Type the watermark text (for example, "CONFIDENTIAL" or your name).
  3. 3Adjust the font size, colour, opacity and rotation angle to taste.
  4. 4Preview the first page to make sure the watermark looks right.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add an image watermark?

The current version supports text watermarks. Image watermarks are on the roadmap.

Will the watermark be selectable?

Yes, it is rendered as text, so it can be copied. To make it uncopyable, convert the PDF pages to images first.

Can I place the watermark only on certain pages?

The current version applies to every page. Split the PDF, watermark the pages you want, then merge back.

What fonts are supported?

Standard PDF fonts (Helvetica, Times, Courier) are always available. Custom fonts may be added in a future update.

Does the watermark affect print quality?

No. Watermarks are added as a vector layer on top of the page and remain sharp at any zoom or print size.
