Frequently asked questions

What is the Image Studio?

Image Studio combines the most common image tasks into a single editor: compress, resize, convert, rotate, flip, crop, extract a colour palette, encode to Base64 and run OCR to pull out text.

The selected action determines the controls and output: dimension and quality settings for optimization, geometric controls for crop or rotation, a copyable string for Base64, and editable recognized text for OCR. It is intended for fast single-image jobs rather than layered photo compositing.

Every operation runs locally in your browser, so your images are processed privately and never uploaded. OCR and large image transformations use your device’s CPU and memory; high-resolution files can therefore take longer on mobile hardware.

How to use the Image Studio

  1. 1Upload an image (JPG, PNG, WebP and similar).
  2. 2Choose a task: compress, resize, convert, rotate/flip, crop, extract a palette, get a Base64 string or run OCR.
  3. 3Adjust the relevant settings (dimensions, quality, format, and so on).
  4. 4Download the result or copy the output where relevant.

When to use the Image Studio

  • Resize and compress a product photo before adding it to a web page.
  • Convert a transparent PNG or photo to JPG, PNG or WebP for a specific destination.
  • Extract text from a clear screenshot, receipt or photographed printed note with OCR.
  • Copy a small icon as a Base64 data URI or sample its dominant color palette.

Key features

  • Compress images to reduce size
  • Resize to exact dimensions
  • Convert between JPG, PNG and WebP
  • Rotate, flip and crop
  • Extract a dominant-colour palette
  • Encode an image to a Base64 data URI
  • Run in-browser OCR to extract text
  • Fully client-side — no uploads

Important notes

  • OCR accuracy depends on image quality; clear, high-contrast text is recognised best.
  • Base64 output makes files roughly 33% larger than the original binary — it is meant for embedding small images in code, not for saving space.
  • Images are processed on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. All editing and OCR happen locally in your browser.

Which format should I use for the web?

WebP usually gives the smallest size at good quality; use PNG when you need transparency and JPG for photos where wide support matters.

Can OCR read handwriting?

It may recognize very clear handwriting, but the engine is most reliable with sharp, high-contrast printed text. Always verify names, numbers and punctuation.

Does converting an image improve its quality?

No. Conversion changes the file format, and compression can discard detail. Keep the original if you may need a higher-quality version later.
