Character Counter
Live character, no-space and byte counter with an optional limit indicator.
0 / 280 characters · 0 without spaces · 0 bytes
What is the Character Counter?
The Character Counter shows character totals with and without spaces, plus a UTF-8 byte count for developers. Set a custom limit — 280 for X/Twitter, 160 for SMS and meta descriptions — and the counter turns red the moment you cross it.
Counting is emoji-aware (a single emoji is one visible character but several bytes) and runs entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between characters and bytes?
Bytes measure storage: Latin letters are 1 byte, accented letters 2, most emojis 4 bytes in UTF-8.
Does pasting rich text keep formatting?
No — input is treated as plain text so counts stay consistent.
