What is the BMI Calculator?
The BMI Calculator computes your Body Mass Index from height and weight — in metric or imperial units — and shows your category (underweight, healthy, overweight, obese) using standard WHO ranges, along with the healthy weight range for your height.
Your measurements are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
How to use the BMI Calculator
- 1Choose your unit system: metric (cm/kg) or imperial (ft-in/lb).
- 2Enter your height and weight.
- 3Read your BMI, category and the healthy weight range for your height.
- 4Adjust inputs to see how a target weight would change the result.
Key features
- Metric and imperial input
- Standard WHO categories
- Healthy weight range for your height
Important notes
- BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis. Athletes with high muscle mass can score "overweight" while being very fit.
- This calculator uses adult ranges — children need paediatric percentile charts, which it does not implement.
