Frequently asked questions
What is the Audio Studio?
Audio Studio is a browser-based audio editor for quick, everyday edits: trimming a clip, adjusting the volume, converting the format and changing playback speed.
Each action uses a small set of controls instead of a multi-track production timeline. That makes the studio suitable for preparing a voice note, extracting a useful section, normalizing an obviously quiet clip or producing a format another player accepts.
All processing happens locally with FFmpeg in WebAssembly, so your audio stays on your device and nothing is uploaded. The browser performs the decoding and encoding work, which means long lossless recordings can take more time and memory than short compressed clips.
How to use the Audio Studio
- 1Add an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and similar).
- 2Choose an action: trim, change volume, convert format or adjust speed.
- 3Set your options and process the file.
- 4Listen to the preview and download the result.
When to use the Audio Studio
- Trim setup chatter and silence from a recorded interview or voice note.
- Raise a quiet clip slightly before inserting it into a presentation.
- Convert an MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG file for compatibility with another application.
- Slow down spoken audio for transcription practice or speed up a familiar recording.
Key features
- Trim to a precise start and end point
- Increase or decrease volume
- Convert between common audio formats
- Change playback speed
- Fully local — no uploads or sign-up
Important notes
- Editing runs on your device, so large files depend on your available memory and CPU.
- The audio engine loads once per session, which can add a short delay to your first edit.
- Boosting volume too far can introduce clipping/distortion — increase gradually and check the preview.
Frequently asked questions
Do you store my audio?
No. Everything runs in your browser and your file is never sent to a server.
Can I convert MP3 to WAV (or back)?
Yes. Use the convert action to switch between common audio formats. Remember that converting a lossy MP3 to WAV does not restore detail already discarded.
Why does louder audio sound distorted?
Increasing gain can push peaks beyond the available digital range, causing clipping. Use a smaller adjustment and listen to the loudest section in the preview.
Does changing speed preserve the original file?
Yes. Processing creates a new downloadable result in the browser and does not overwrite the file on your device.
